John Sebastian’s 140th birthday

The John Sebastian Lightship, home of Cabot Cruising Club, is 140 years old this year. She was built in 1885 as a Light Vessel (LV 55) – a batch order for Trinity House of three (LB54, LV55 and LV59) by Charles Hill & Sons, Albion Yard, Bristol. She has been home to Cabot Cruising Club for 70 years.

To mark the occasion and to raise funds for the conservation of this historic ship, Cabot Cruising Club are hosting a weekend of ‘refreshments, games, fun and joy’ to be held over 14-15 June 2025. To join the event, please contact the club’s commodore Ben Ewing (email: commodore@cabotcruisingclub.co.uk or phone: 07766 200068) giving details of the approximate number of people attending and whether a berthing allocation within Bathurst Basin is required during the event.
