On 24th April Vodaphone lifted the old communications mast on Coronation Road and secured into position a replacement mast that carries the new generation 5G equipment for mobile phones. The team also removed the two old cabinet modules supporting the 4G antenna. Work is now complete, so residents around Bathurst Basin should benefit significantly from better 5G coverage.
5G is the next generation mobile network, following 1G to 4G networks. It offers a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices. It delivers higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity and a more uniform experience to more users.
In relation to 5G, Public Health England have said that ‘the overall exposure is expected to remain low relative to guidelines and, as such, there should be no consequences for public health’. The following link sets out Ofcom’s position on the 5G rollout.
We are pleased to report that Bathurst Basin remains on the leading edge of connectivity.
