Good news for recreational users of Bathurst Basin: Eric Dougall of Bristol City Council Harbour staff has informed us that water quality testing will be resumed here, starting in July.
The latest readings for selected sites are available on the Bristol City Council webpage on water quality.
We have long campaigned for water quality testing in the Basin. It was not included in the test sites when testing was resumed in July 2020 after its temporary suspension during COVID. Bathurst Basin is a popular area for youngsters learning canoe and kayak skills. They often enter the water, either by accident or as part of their training. The resumption of testing is most welcome news to all users of the Basin.
