According to BBC news, the Ebenaezer barge is finally being dismantled for scrap. Since purchased by Bristol City Council, it has not been maintained, and the Council has said that costs to repair the barge now ‘outweighed what its value would be if restored’. It has been decided ‘to dismantle the barge to reuse and recycle its individual parts’. We had previously covered its move to the Albion Dock Company’s dry dock in Bristol harbour.
Friends of Bathurst Basin was formed as a community group in May 2019 to stop Bristol City Council from moving the Ebenhaezer to a mooring along the Lower Guinea Street quay of Bathurst Basin.
There has been little movement in the BOXHALL development that required the space occupied by the Ebenhaezer (image below). It seems this development has stalled.
