To tackle knife crime, Bristol City Council will spend over £650,000 improve CCTV coverage on local authority land over the next two years. Green Councillors Mohamed Makawi and Ani Stafford-Townsend raised the issue at a recent Full Council which approved the budget.
At the request of the police, the Louisiana Pub has fitted at their own expense a CCTV camera with views on to the Bathurst Bridge roundabout. Pub owner Mig Schillace has told us that the pub will fit more cameras directed towards Bathurst Basin if funding were forthcoming.
Given the recent spate of crime and antisocial behaviour in the area we hope that some of the Council’s budget will fund CCTV coverage in Bathurst Basin.
