Plants around Bathurst Basin

The plant lists below are a start kindly made by a local resident in June 2019. There are probably many more plants around the Basin. If you know of others to add to the list, amendments to suggest, or photos to share, please let us know by emailing  or posting on our Facebook page.


Asplenium ruta-muraria – Wall rue
Asplenium trichomanes – Maidenhair spleenwort
Ceterach officinarum – Rusty-back fern
Phyllitis scolopendrium – Hart’s tongue


Poa compressa – Flat-stalked meadow grass
Polypogon monspeliensis – Annual beard grass
Polypogon viridis – Water-bent


Bathurst Parade: 3 Norway maples.

John Sebastian Quay: 10 London planes (platanus x acerifolia) adjacent to Commercial Road and a line of Norway maples (Acer Platinoides) and Norway Maples ‘Crimson King’ (Acer Platinoides ‘Crimson King’) with 2 Sweetgums (Liquidamber Styraciflua) interspersed.

Lower Guinea Street: a line of Common Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and One-leaved Ash (Fraxinus excelsior ‘Diversifolia’) with 2 Honey Locusts (Gleditsia triacanthos) interspersed.

In front of the Ostrich: a line of various Norway maples as per John Sebastian Quay, but with one Acer Platinoides ‘Cucullatum’ included.
