Lightship Theatre presents Queen Lear, a gender-reversed production of Shakespeare’s King Lear brought into a modern-day setting – with creative and minimalist staging. The story of Queen Lear and her three sons is a matriarchal drama and political thriller that explores the treacheries within a family dynasty, the fears around aging and how blind we can be to the reality we live in. The show explores the play’s themes in a ‘visually striking’ way whilst not shying away from the violence and sexuality.
The two-night run of Queen Lear at the Lightship Theatre on the John Sebastian will be on the 10th and 11th January 2022. Doors and bar will open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm performance.
Tickets costing £10 should be purchased in advance from www.ticketsource.co.uk/thescullions. Or email thelightshiptheatre@gmail.com to reserve them and pay by visiting Cabot Cruising Club on Thursday 6th January.
COVID permitting, a Lightship Arts Festival will take in March 2022 and the Flying Chairs Theatre will presents ‘Mojo’ on April 4th-9th. More details will follow.
