The drains along Commercial Road struggle to cope when rainfall is heavy. We have reported the problem to Bristol City Council using the Fix My Street website. The Council was quick to respond and the day after we reported the issue a vacuum truck arrived to clean out the drains. The team sent to sort the problem said this had been an issue for some time. The drains are old clay pipes and fracture easily. We understand that one drain is choked with concrete so a water jet won’t clear it. The work is logged to have a CCTV survey done.
Meanwhile traffic movement along Commercial Road will continue to be disrupted during heavy rain and pedestrians will risk being soaked when using the pavements on both sides of the road.
