Exceptionally high pollution in the Basin

Bacteriological readings of e-coli in Bathurst Basin at their highest level since 2003. Only twice in the last 30 years have they been higher – in February and July 2003. The e-coli reading on 5th December in Bathurst Basin was 25,900 CFUs. Readings were even higher at 35,500 CFUs in St. Augustine’s Reach. The Council website warns all water users in Bristol Harbour to take extra care and precautions because of these exceptionally high levels of pollution.

If E.Coli levels go above 5,000 CFUs at the Baltic Wharf site or across all other sites, a warning notice will be displayed on the Council website and at Baltic Wharf, outside the Harbour Master’s Office.
