Bristol City Council has closed the 80-year-old Redcliffe Bascule Bridge over the Floating Harbour for a period of about 10 weeks from 1st August to all vehicles and pedestrians. Previous repair work on the bridge had to be suspended when the contractor went bankrupt.
Diversion signs have been placed to redirect pedestrians and cyclists via Bathurst Parade and over the Lower Guinea Street ‘Blue Bridge’. We can expect to see many more pedestrians, cyclists and scooters passing through or even stopping off for a drink and a meal in our various restaurants and pubs.
We can also expect more litter to be discarded when these diversions are in place. A number of Bathurst Basin residents are ready to meet the challenge to keep Bathurst Basin clear of rubbish.
