The long-awaited reed beds have been installed in Bathurst Basin by Simon Thurgood and colleague from Aquascience Ltd.

Thanks to Cameron Cheek of Bristol City Council Harbour Estates Office who arranged to replace the many small vertical bins

Swing-bridge name-plate

The name plate by the pedestrian swing bridge will be removed, refurbished and reinstalled at both ends of the bridge.

Repaired benches

For two years Richard Finch, the chair of the Friends of Bathurst Basin, has been encouraging the Council to maintain the Basin’s benches which were in a very sorry state. 

New Cut bank movement

A section of the New Cut wall closer to Bathurst Basin is now showing signs of movement. If this section collapses, the effects on traffic movement into the city could be catastrophic.

Welcome back

Bathurst Basin hospitality businesses are coming back to life: the Ostrich, the Louisiana, Casamia, Paco Tapas, Torque Gym.

Pavement licence for Casamia?

Casamia have applied to serve food and alcohol on the pavement outside their premises. Friends of Bathurst Basin take a view.

Ultramarathon event

Merchants’ Landing resident Phil Stannard plans to run the London to Bristol Ultramarathon in aid of the Woman’s Trust.
